SunriseWALKS Chicago benefits Sunrise Day Camp-Chicago, the world's first full-summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings, offered completely free of charge.

As a proud member of the Sunrise Association, our mission is to bring the joys of childhood to children worldwide. Sunrise accomplishes this through the creation and oversight of welcoming, inclusive summer day camps, year-round programs, and in-hospital recreational activities.

Days at Sunrise Day Camp are filled with friends, games, songs, and fun - the perfect antidote to long, lonely days at home and in the hospital. Sunrise campers are given what every child deserves: the opportunity to be a kid.

Children can come to camp while continuing treatment with their home doctors and return to the comfort of their own beds at the end of each day. At Sunrise Day Camp-Chicago, the support campers receive extends beyond traditional day camp, including on-site registered nurses and activities at both "high" and "low" levels.

Our Lake County campus features an innovative yurt village where campers can enjoy a unique space for activities ranging from art to STEM to yoga.

Additional amenities include:

  • Climbing wall
  • Greenhouse
  • Ninja warrior and mini-golf courses
  • Sports court for basketball, pickleball, and playground games

Sunrise Day Camp

Children with cancer and their siblings live in a world of NO, but at Sunrise Day Camp it's a world of YES!  Providing memorable summers since 2006 for children ages 3 1/2 to 16 years old, Sunrise Day Camp brings the simple pleasures of childhood to children struggling with cancer, changing months of loneliness and isolation into summers filled with sunshine, laughter and happiness. And because Sunrise is a day camp, it does all this while allowing the children to continue their medical treatment and enjoy the comfort and safety of their own homes at night.
